Cherry Blossoms

CherryBlossom
My first idea was to paint a window of some sort, with a view outdoors. Maybe even including a bird feeder. It thought that would be funny.

I love this idea. I have a wall where I work that is in need of something. It is large and white. I hate it. I also have no windows in that room. I had been searching the web for some ideas, and I came across this. I really like this painting, the cherry blossoms are beautiful. This may be something I will try. I have not decided yet.

The hand made paper for the base is something I would love to try as well. I have never made paper. Research into that would be essential if I want to attempt it.

Seeded Cables Sweater

May 13th, 2010 by admin

I have started my second knitting project ever and probably have taken on a little bit too much. This pattern is riddled with twisting cables, but it is very beautiful. I started with the back section and have been working on it off and on for a couple of weeks now. It is very so going. Then I got stuck. The way the pattern was written didn’t make sense to me. I did a few rows, and tore them out, and was very confused. I finally decided to see if other people were having this same issue and found this site. PureKnits.com. I found information that helped me get past this trouble spot, and a few updates to the pattern.

pumpkin

August 31st, 2009 by admin

This little pumpkin was inspired by the video below, but I made a lot of changes. I made it smaller by doing sc twice, dc three times then sc twice.

When I had it as large around as I wanted it I closed off the bottom and pulled that yarn up through the middle to create a less rounded pumpkin. It also sits very nice now. I attached the yarn I pulled through to the top of the pumpkin.

The top was a different as well. I created more of a stem instead of leaves. it is sort of a tube with the top closed off. 3-4 sc around.

After it was all assembled I took yarn and wrapped it very tight to get the puckering in all around it. Don’t forget to stuff it of course.

Afghan

August 31st, 2009 by admin

I have been working on a new afghan for the past few weeks. It is crochet. The pattern is relatively simple. The three stitches used are ch, sc and dc. The pattern repeats every 3 rows.

Most of the afghans that I have made I have given away, but I think I may keep this one. So far it is only about two feet long, so I have a ways to go.

Free Patterns

April 8th, 2009 by admin

I found two sites that have some great clothing patterns for knit and crochet. I thought I would share them here. I will post if I finish one of the designs. I printed out a couple of them, but with school starting again this week I don’t know how much time I’ll have to do anything with them. I know it is going to be summer soon, but I want to try the Bulky circular pullover. I probably wouldn’t finish it before fall anyway.

I have only knitted a few items and it says intermediate, but I like a challenge. I always start with projects that are above my level. I don’t know I, seem to learn faster that way. Easy stuff usually doesn’t appeal to me anyway. Too simple. My first knitted item ever was a Lace Bag. It was pretty after it was finished and I had received compliments on it, but I should have started with something that used just the simple knit stitch.

plastic fabric

March 29th, 2009 by admin

I throw away so many plastic bags. This is a great idea to make a variety of different things. They make a coaster and a wallet in the video, but you could really do just about anything with it.

Arduino

I love this idea. I have an Arduino board that I’m not using but it is not the LilyPad Arduino. If I get around to it I am going to look inot making something with this.

In the mood to sew

March 17th, 2009 by admin

I have been in the mood to sew lately, yet I have no idea what I want to make. I would like to make some kind of clothing item. I also want to make a couch cover for my loveseat, but I know I don’t have enough fabric for that and I don’t want to spend money when I have so much fabric already. Maybe I can make it pieced like a quilt, using random fabric that I have. I’m not sure how that would look though. Probably not very good.

I better stick to sewing clothing. I have this really cute skirt that I started a while ago. Maybe I will finish that, since it is almost done anyway.
